It was lovely to see such a crowded Parents Evening last night with year 7 parents, and I felt a really positive, warm vibe. The year group are beginning to gel really well and it was great to see so many of their peers out supporting the Year 7 team in their [successful] semi-final in the boys football versus St Edwards on Tuesday evening.
This week has been particularly busy for the languages team with the students doing their speaking assessments in Year 11. Interestingly, and I wrote about this last year, it is one of the areas where the new GCSEs have really changed the demands on the students, especially for the higher grades. The expectations, in terms of the content the students need to cover, are so much greater than recent years; so many thanks for the department in getting the students so well prepared.
I have written a separate letter this week about expansion update to all parents, so please do take time to read the letter and ask any questions at the school, or just informally at the gate. I appreciate that over the next 18 months the site will change and there will be significant work undertaken, but I genuinely believe that improved facilities will help the students in the long run.
Finally, if I could remind parents to download the Parents App from the email link; I appreciate at the moment it is only the reports that are live (very important in their own right), but this will increasingly become the predominant communication link between the school and parents over the next 3 months.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend: mine will be slightly hectic given that the cricket and football/rugby seasons overlap for my children, plus a cub day camp to throw in the mix. A weekend of “Parent Taxi” awaits!
