Firstly, a very warm welcome to back to all our students and parents, and especially our new Year 7 intake. For those of you that are new to reading the blog, it is designed to give you a glimpse into life at Marshalls Park, as well as keeping parents and the community updated on developments.
The summer has been very busy at Marshalls. We have refurbished 20 classrooms in the school including double projection in all rooms, new PCs, new desks, some air conditioning and generally trying to bring the classroom environment up to modern standards. This coupled with: the temporary build; re-felting and insulating the roof; plus the refurbishment of the stage to improve drama and dance facilities, has led to a very busy summer for the team. I would also like to apologise to the community for the alarms going off one weekend: the system had convinced itself that it was being tampered with and it took several hours to locate the fault. Overall, whilst I appreciate some students’ comments about it being slightly more sterile, I know they will adjust to it and the vast majority have appreciated the investment we are placing in their education.
This week has been a very positive start for the students. They have already settled down to hard work, and are being productive in their learning. The senior team, and other colleagues, have been out visiting lessons and reinforcing that message about learning, and in particular Mr Suttenwood, the new Deputy Head, has visited all the teachers’ rooms on several occasions to integrate himself into the school.
We look forward to working with our parents, students and community as we continue to insist on those high standards that make students successful.
Have a good weekend.
