We have a team of 4 senior colleagues in the school ably assisted by a strong network of middle leaders; the team consists of: Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and 2 Assistant Headteachers.

For 2017/18, having reduced our substantive SLT by one colleague, we also have 3 Associate Assistant Heads for this academic year.

We have included a brief resume of each of our roles in the biographies below. There are, of course, many responsibilities beyond those listed, but this will give you a good flavour of our key roles should you wish to contact the school.

Mr Neil Frost


Responsible for the strategic direction of the academy, staffing the academy, the academy’s self-evaluation processes, dealing with external agencies, interaction with the local governing body and the trust.

Mrs Jackie Essery

Deputy Headteacher

Responsible for the curriculum, the options processes, the quality of curriculum delivery in the classroom, line management of the Curriculum Leaders for each faculty. Mrs Essery is also responsible for student outcomes, exam arrangements and data management.

Ms Judith Jackson

Assistant Headteacher

Responsible for the behaviour and safety of students in the school, alongside aspects of their personal development; additionally leads on whole school productions and news items within the school. Ms Jackson is also responsible for student outcomes, behaviour and attitudes to learning in Year 7, 8 and 9. Line manages Year leaders for Year 7,8 and 9.

Ms Geraldine Webb

Assistant Headteacher

Designated Safeguarding Lead, and therefore responsible for safeguarding of our students; overview of our most vulnerable students including line managing SENCo and liaising with external agencies around child protection.

Mr James Pickering

Associate Assistant Head

Responsible for student outcomes, behaviour and attitudes to learning in Year 10 and 11. Line manages Year leaders for Years 10 and 11. Responsibility for homework across the school, including online learning. Additionally, responsible for KS2 to 3 transition.

Mr Amin Rahman

Associate Assistant Head

Responsible for curriculum review, curriculum development, setting and option processes. Additionally responsible for student progression from KS2 to KS3. Also responsible for developing a QA process, and embedding the vision across the school.

Ms Nicky Solis

Associate Assistant Head

Responsible for assessment strategy across the school, ensuring a synergy with SWECET assessment strategy, embedding new GCSE specifications in the vast majority of subjects, and our engagement with PiXL strategies to raise outcomes.
