Get Into Teaching

Training to teach at Marshalls Park:

At Marshalls Park we relish opportunities to train teachers and are confident that we offer a supportive and friendly environment which allows trainees to flourish.   We invest heavily in our new and developing teachers and as a trainee you would benefit from the guidance of a fully trained Mentor and Professional Tutor, who would both work closely with you to develop your pedagogy.

In order to provide bespoke training, we work with a wide range of initial teacher training partners and are confident in our ability to match potential trainees with the route into teaching which would most suit individual circumstances.

To complement your training, we also offer a comprehensive range of school based Professional Studies sessions led by a variety of high quality, experienced and engaging practitioners.

If you are interested in coming to look around our school and discuss the training routes that would be available to you please contact Sarah Aylett – ayletts@mpa.swecet.org

TESTIMONIAL QUOTES:

AIDAN MAIER – MUSIC TEACHER TRAINED AT MPA

While training at Marshalls Park, I received a consistently high level of support from an excellent mentor, school management and staff across the school. From my first day I felt like a valued member of my department and was treated as a trusted colleague around the school. I have been able to gradually take on more responsibility to develop a wide range of skills, and work with an enthusiastic and spirited group of students. I would strongly recommend Marshalls Park as a welcoming and supportive school for all trainees and new teachers.

KATIE MCGUIRE – HISTORY TEACHER TRAINED AT MPA

I completed my teacher training at Marshalls Park and even though times were testing during the pandemic, the staff made it so much easier. Everyone was just so friendly and helpful – and I mean all staff! Of course the support from my department, my faculty and Professional Tutor was brilliant but I also had a range of teachers from all over the school taking time out of their day to see how I was getting on which I was, and still am incredibly grateful for.  As an ECT now I feel still feel the same level of support as I did when I first started, Marshalls Park is a fantastic place to work.

VINCE TUMBER – HISTORY TEACHER TRAINED AT MPA

Marshalls Park has really helped me thrive in a difficult profession. They have allowed me to experiment with my teaching, especially during my training years, whilst also enabling me to tap into a wealth of experience whenever I needed it. The school has also cared about my welfare, especially during the pandemic when I was completing my NQT year.  There are always options to better yourself through CPD training and courses as well as opportunities to further your career.  Lastly, MPA is a community that thrives. Staff and students work in tandem with each knowing what is expected of the other and that is what makes it an exceptional place to work.

DANIELLE HARRISON – ART TEACHER COMPLETED ECT INDUCTION AT MPA

I was incredibly pleased when I secured a role at Marshalls Park Academy, to continue my professional development during my NQT year. I was advised to apply on the basis of MPA’s many virtues, one being how supportive the culture is.  Members of staff (at all levels) are thoroughly encouraging, collaborative and altruistic with their time.  Marshalls continues to be a terrific place to work post training.

DANNY GREEN – COMPUTING TEACHER TRAINED AT MPA

MPA is a great community. From the moment I first joined, all of the staff were very welcoming and supportive, with teachers always offering to give advice and support.  The school organises staff activities which allow colleagues to get to know each other outside of their own department.  All of my training was well targeted and Marshalls Park is a great place to start your career.
