Marshalls Park Academy

Senior Leadership Team

 

We have a team of 8 senior colleagues in the school ably assisted by a strong network of middle leaders; the team consists of: Headteacher, 3 Deputy Headteachers, 3 Assistant Headteachers and 1 Associate Assistant Headteacher.

We have included a brief resume of each of our roles in the biographies below. There are, of course, many responsibilities beyond those listed, but this will give you a good flavour of our key roles should you wish to contact the school.

Mr Neil Frost

Headteacher

Responsible for the strategic direction of the academy, staffing the academy, the academy’s self-evaluation processes, dealing with external agencies, interaction with the Local School Advisory Board and the Trust.

Mrs Sarah Aylett

Deputy Headteacher

Mrs Aylett leads the development of the Teaching & Learning Framework and oversees Literacy, SEN, and EAL provision. She Line Manages Lead Practitioners and the school office, SENCO and supports student transition, and plays a key role in delivering disadvantaged strategies at ground level to promote inclusive and effective learning for all. Mrs Aylett is also responsible for the reward system at Marshalls Park and oversees the student council.

Mrs Trish Gilroy

Deputy Headteacher

Mrs Gilroy holds strategic responsibility for the school curriculum, including its quality of delivery, ongoing review, and development across subject areas. She oversees curriculum line management, examination arrangements, student outcomes and assessment across the school. Additionally, she line manages the Curriculum Lead and the SLT member responsible for attendance, and leads on quality assurance and the delivery of Relationships, Sex, and Health Education.

Mr Ian Smyrk

Deputy Headteacher

Responsible for Behaviour around the school and supports students in their readiness for learning. This includes line management of the pastoral team as well as leading colleagues on Career related learning and guidance in school. Mr Smyrk also coordinates programmes for our Most Able students, and PSHE programme, as well as reviewing our staff/student voice. 

Ms Judith Jackson

Assistant Headteacher

Responsible for safety of students in the school.  Designated Safeguarding Lead, including overview of our most vulnerable students; liaising with external agencies around child protection.

Mr James Pickering

Assistant Headteacher

Mr Pickering is responsible for the coordination of Alternative Provision, the management of school admissions and mentoring programmes. He oversees the Pastoral  suite within the school incorporating  our RESET and Internal Suspension rooms, and manages and dual-registered students and represents the school at LBoH Fair Access Panel (FAP) and Behaviour and Attendance Panel (BAP) meetings.

Mrs Carly Bradley

Assistant Headteacher

Mrs Bradley oversees whole-school attendance, the school calendar, and the coordination of cover, timetabling, and student settings. She ensures compliance for educational visits and leads the development of extra-curricular provision. Additionally, she line manages the Learning Mentor team, supporting student wellbeing and engagement.

Miss Tiffany Bowles

Associate Assistant Headteacher

Leads the school's Disadvantaged Strategy and serves as Deputy Safeguarding Lead, championing equity and wellbeing to ensure all students thrive in a safe and supportive environment.
