Get Into Teaching

Training to teach at Marshalls Park:

At Marshalls Park we relish opportunities to train teachers and are confident that we offer a supportive and friendly environment which allows trainees to flourish.   We invest heavily in our new and developing teachers and as a trainee you would benefit from the guidance of a fully trained Mentor and Professional Tutor, who would both work closely with you to develop your pedagogy.

In order to provide bespoke training, we work with a wide range of initial teacher training partners and are confident in our ability to match potential trainees with the route into teaching which would most suit individual circumstances.

To complement your training, we also offer a comprehensive range of school based Professional Studies sessions led by a variety of high quality, experienced and engaging practitioners.

If you are interested in coming to look around our school and discuss the training routes that would be available to you please contact Sarah Aylett – ayletts@mpa.swecet.org

TESTIMONIAL QUOTES:

OLIVIA TIGHE – BUSINESS STUDIES & FOOD TEACHER TRAINED AT MPA

From the very start of my journey at MPA all the staff have been very supportive, especially my mentor and professional tutor.  My teaching has developed as a result of lesson feedback, training opportunities and countless opportunities for me to further my career, and ensure my confidence as a teacher grows.  In addition to the training opportunities that school has continuously cared about my welfare.  Knowing Marshalls Park is supporting my career, and wellbeing, has enabled me to be excited about my future here at Marshalls Park Academy.

KATIE MCGUIRE – HISTORY TEACHER TRAINED AT MPA

I completed my teacher training at Marshalls Park and even though times were testing during the pandemic, the staff made it so much easier. Everyone was just so friendly and helpful – and I mean all staff! Of course the support from my department, my faculty and Professional Tutor was brilliant but I also had a range of teachers from all over the school taking time out of their day to see how I was getting on which I was, and still am incredibly grateful for.  As an ECT now I feel still feel the same level of support as I did when I first started, Marshalls Park is a fantastic place to work.

TARA CHARLES-CARRIMAN – D&T TEACHER TRAINED AT MPA

As a new teacher at Marshalls Park Academy, I felt incredibly supported and welcomed by both staff and students. The school's commitment to nurturing new teachers has provided me with a fantastic environment to grow professionally. From my first day, I was given access to a range of professional development opportunities, as well as mentorship from experienced colleagues who were always willing to share their knowledge and expertise.

The sense of community here is truly special. The students are engaged, respectful, and eager to learn, which makes teaching here both rewarding and enjoyable. The leadership team has been instrumental in guiding me through my first year, offering regular feedback and practical advice that has helped me refine my teaching practices.

I feel confident and excited about my future in education, knowing that my time at Marshalls Park has given me a strong foundation on which to build. It’s been an amazing journey so far, and I’m proud to be part of such a forward-thinking and supportive school.

VINCE TUMBER – HISTORY TEACHER TRAINED AT MPA

Marshalls Park has really helped me thrive in a difficult profession. They have allowed me to experiment with my teaching, especially during my training years, whilst also enabling me to tap into a wealth of experience whenever I needed it. The school has also cared about my welfare, especially during the pandemic when I was completing my NQT year.  There are always options to better yourself through CPD training and courses as well as opportunities to further your career.  Lastly, MPA is a community that thrives. Staff and students work in tandem with each knowing what is expected of the other and that is what makes it an exceptional place to work.

DANNY GREEN – COMPUTING TEACHER TRAINED AT MPA

MPA is a great community. From the moment I first joined, all of the staff were very welcoming and supportive, with teachers always offering to give advice and support.  The school organises staff activities which allow colleagues to get to know each other outside of their own department.  All of my training was well targeted and Marshalls Park is a great place to start your career.
